The congregation has occupied four different buildings, including its current facility built in 1957 and added to in 1984. The congregation has a strong history of biblical preaching, care for its members and support of the local Christian schools. Total membership has hovered around the 500 mark for the last several decades.
OUR WORSHIP STYLE
While the style of liturgy used in our worship is, for the most part, traditional; a mix of traditional and contemporary music is used in our worship. A praise team along with drums and guitars lead praise and worship at the beginning of our morning service. Twice per month our evening service is a contemporary service.
We are a God-centered church rooted in God’s word. Jesus Christ, by His Spirit, equips and enables us to serve others together. With an atmosphere of caring fellowship we want to encourage growth in obedience.
First Oostburg Christian Reformed Church has several goals:
- Ensure full participation of it’s members in the activities of the church.
- To continue to foster diversity in worship, music and lay participation in worship leadership.
- Bring small group leaders together for encouragement, training and prayer.
- Begin a ministry of mentoring, bringing veteran and young believers together for mutual growth.
